| The objectives of the club, as specified in the Constitution, are as follows: To provide its members with recreation through the promotion of safe boating, racing, and other sports: to promote the study of seamanship and navigation; to encourage yacht building and yacht sailing; to provide and maintain suitable facilities for the use and enjoyment of it's members.

Naturally, sailing is the major focus. A good variety of racing is provided for J24's and Cruisers. Its own racing program provides a PHRF and or J24 with Sunday and Wednesday Night, spring, summer and fall racing. Special weekend series also are run.
Instructors are hired to provide sailing lessons for juniors. The juniors sail JY 15's and Optimist Prams for good all around basic sailing skills.
The mooring area has been approved for eight moorings and 44 slips. Cruisers have reciprocal mooring and docking facilities agreements with clubs on Lake Ontario. About 30 cruising boats make up our membership.
Present membership consists of just under 50 families. Boat ownership is not essential for members, but the majority of members do own something from sailboards on up to larger cruising boats.
FHYC is incorporated and all members share ownership. A twelve member Board of Directors administers it, which include the usual Flag Officers. It should be emphasized that this is a "do it yourself "organization. Upkeep and improvement of the house and grounds, social events, racing events, opening and closing of the facilities are all planned and implemented by the membership. A steward is hired to oversee daily operations during July and August; otherwise, work is done by the membership.
Social activities are a major aspect of the clubs program. Hardly a summer weekend passes without some planned event. Activities range from informal potluck suppers to the catered annual dinner dance.
This description is intended to give you only an overview of what the club is about. New members are encouraged to seek further information from your sponsor or from any person on the Membership Committee.
